Today, in partnership with the City Council, we take the next step and codify the electrification of the fleet by 2038 into law. We are proud to make this announcement at a NYCHA facility where DCAS will also help make the transition to zero emissions with new shared electric vehicles and solar carports. The charging method hasn’t been decided but there are three types of charging: catenary system, conductive (ground-based) system, and inductive system. 1.The catenary system uses overhead wires to provide electricity to a special kind of bus or tram and therefore can only be used for heavy-duty vehicles. 2.Conductive charging, on the other hand, works both for heavy-duty vehicles and private cars as long as there is a conduction system such as a rail. The vehicles are charged through a stick that touches the rail. 3.The inductive charging system uses special equipment buried underneath the road that sends electricity to a coil in the electric vehicle. The coil in the vehicle then uses that electricity to charge the battery.

The wonderfull suspension 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬 It is the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and is a unique system in Germany. The cars are suspended from a single rail built underneath a supporting steel frame. The cars hang on wheels which are driven by multiple #electric motors operating at 750 #volts DC, fed from a live rail below the running rail Until August 2019, the Schwebebahn used block #signalling like other light- and heavy-rail systems. Signals with red, green, and yellow lights, present at every station, signalled the driver if the next block, usually continuing until the next station, was free or not. The yellow aspect was mostly used to warn about construction work ahead, while a blinking red light warned about more severe problems.
